WHERE STILLNESS GATHERS

Where Stillness Gathers is one of four original drawings in Of Earth and Instinct, a collection exploring the horse’s connection to landscape, freedom and the instincts of the herd. Across the series, moments of movement and closeness sit alongside stillness. Here, a calm single horse lowers its head among the grasses, its gaze turned towards the ground as its mane lifts in the wind.

Created freehand in graphite, charcoal and PanPastel on Arches hot pressed paper, the drawing brings finely observed detail together with expressive marks. Soft layers of tone give shape to the horse and create an atmospheric backdrop, while delicate grasses rise around its legs.

There is movement in the wind and a quiet presence in the horse itself. Where Stillness Gathers is a moment of calm within the collection: an invitation to slow down and spend time with the horse in its surroundings.
