About Janna Cossettini
Janna Cossettini is a British-Australian artist based in North Norfolk. Shaped by a childhood spent among horses and wildlife in rural Australia, her work now draws on the animals, landscapes and countryside traditions around her UK studio, Deckled Edge Ltd.
Horses remain at the heart of Janna’s practice. Through observing and riding, she has developed a close understanding of their movement, character and relationships with one another. Her equine drawings explore moments of freedom, companionship and stillness, bringing finely observed detail together with expressive marks and atmospheric backgrounds.
Janna also draws British wildlife, gundogs and game birds. In another strand of her work, horses appear alongside flowers, where the strength of the animal meets the delicacy of a bloom. Across these subjects, she is drawn to the connection between an animal and its surroundings.
Working in graphite, charcoal, PanPastel, coloured pencil and oils, Janna creates each piece freehand, without projection or digital shortcuts. Layers of marks and tone allow her to build both a likeness and a sense of presence.
In 2026, Janna was selected to exhibit OF EARTH AND INSTINCT, a collection of four original equine drawings, at the Dutch Equine Art Fair in Amsterdam. Explore the collection and its story.
To date, Janna’s work has supported equine charities including World Horse Welfare and Redwings Horse Sanctuary. She has partnered with UK equestrian distributors, and her designs have been licensed by greeting card platforms including Moonpig and Thortful.

How I came to this point:
I was born in Australia, where my deep love for animals and the outdoors began.
Growing up on a farm at the base of the Kosciuszko National Park, I was surrounded by the raw, untamed beauty of nature—wild brumbies, kangaroos, boars, wombats, kookaburras, and lyrebirds formed the backdrop of my childhood.
From an early age, I was always drawing. That passion led me to earn a BA in Fine Art in Melbourne, before stepping into the world of editorial design as an Art Director for Condé Nast in both Sydney and later London—working on iconic titles such as The World of Interiors and other titles within Vogue Promotions.
Even after two children, a busy creative career, and a move to the UK countryside, I never stopped drawing—or riding horses. Now with my two spaniels by my side (Goose & Tequila), I’ve returned fully to my first love: fine art.
Today, I create large-scale, semi-realistic works that reflect not just what I see—but what I feel. My collections now explore equine beauty, gundogs, deer, game birds, and the traditions of the British countryside. Each piece is made entirely by hand, bringing an authentic, emotional connection to every line I draw.
