THE CHESTNUT – Fine-Art Giclée

THE CHESTNUT captures the quiet strength, warmth and gentle character of a chestnut Warmblood horse emerging from the darkness, its features gradually revealed through carefully observed mid-tones and luminous highlights.

The original artwork was hand drawn using Faber-Castell Polychromos and Prismacolor Premier lightfast coloured pencils on deep chocolate-brown acid-free paper. Rather than adding shadow, I worked by building layers of light. This reversal of the traditional drawing process allowed the horse to emerge from the rich, dark surface, creating a powerful sense of depth, atmosphere and presence. Every highlight has been carefully placed to reveal the contours of the horse’s powerful frame while retaining the softness and elegance of its expression.

Its steady, searching gaze invites a quiet connection with the viewer, conveying not only the athletic strength and power of the Warmblood, but also the trust, intelligence and sensitivity that lie beneath. It is this delicate balance between physical presence and gentle spirit that I sought to capture, allowing the horse to appear as though it is stepping from the shadows into the light.

Each print is professionally produced by a specialist fine art printer on archival Hahnemühle paper, chosen for its exceptional colour accuracy, longevity and beautiful surface quality. Carefully chosen by myself and my knowledgeable framer, we work together to select the very best result for your purchase. Using high grade museum quality acid-free backing boards, extra wide mount boards, and quality Art Glass. Framed to the very highest museum standards. Our chosen Art Glass is designed to reduce glare and reflections while also blocking harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. This is to achieve superior visibility for all my framed work, and reveals the truest possible colours and textures of my art – with no green tint or optical distortion. External dimensions of frame supplied on request. Fully framed has an amazing impact!

UNFRAMED – your print will be handled with the upmost care and wrapped in acid-free tissue paper, sent to you boxed flat. Be very careful with oversized paper prints when unwrapping, as they are easy to damage when handling large sizes. Avoid touching the print area itself, and handle with gloves where possible, touching only the edges at all times. Use a very soft brush if needing to wipe away any dust or fluff, but this is best left to your framer. Allow 2-3 weeks for printing and posting your order, as your fine-art print requires firstly printing bespoke for you, plus hand edition-ing and signing by me!
