NBAC SPRING OPEN EXHIBITION – 05-14 MARCH 2026

THE KEEPER’S LARDER – On Its Way to Bath

There is a quiet kind of pride that fills a studio when a drawing is wrapped for its journey into the world.

Today, The Keeper’s Larder — my original graphite work — leaves my hands and makes its way via courier to the Spring Open Art Exhibition – New Bath Arts Club, hosted at the historic Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution in Bath.

As I sealed the package, my dogs gathered faithfully at the front door, watching the courier’s arrival with alert curiosity. They have been there through every hour of its creation — the quiet shading, the patient refinement of detail — and somehow their presence felt like a ceremonial send-off. A moment of stillness before the next chapter begins.

To be selected from such a huge number of submissions is truly humbling. It is an honour I don’t take lightly. Exhibitions like this celebrate dedication, diversity, and the courage it takes to share deeply personal work with a wider audience.

There is something incredibly special about knowing that a drawing born in solitude will soon be viewed in such a beautiful and historic setting. From studio walls to exhibition gallery — from quiet contemplation to public conversation.

If you are able to visit, I would be delighted for you to see The Keeper’s Larder in person as part of this wonderful exhibition in Bath.

For now, the dogs have returned to their usual resting spots, the studio feels just a little emptier — and the anticipation begins.
