Welcome to Deckled Edge
About DECKLED EDGE by Janna Cossettini
DECKLED EDGE is an art studio nestled in the idyllic countryside of North Norfolk, founded and run solely by artist Janna Cossettini. Welcome to my world of art and inspiration.
My work is known for its semi-realistic style with a strong focus on equine subjects, wildlife, and the beauty of the natural world. Inspired by the animals I grew up with near my childhood farm at the base of the Kosciuszko National Park in Australia, my drawings reflect the awe-inspiring diversity and personality of nature.
I produce all of my original fine art pieces, limited edition giclée prints, and supporting products—such as greeting cards, gift wrap, and coasters—right here in the UK. Everything is created by hand, from scratch, with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and authenticity, which I believe carries through in every piece I make.
Short Bio – How I Came to This Point
Born in Australia, I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors. My upbringing was filled with horses, cattle, and wild creatures—from kangaroos to kookaburras—surrounding our family farm.
I studied Fine Art at university in Melbourne and went on to work as an Art Director in Sydney for Condé Nast before relocating to London in 2001. There, I worked within the Condé Nast flagship offices on prestigious titles such as World of Interiors and Vogue Promotions.
After starting a family, I continued drawing while raising two children and spending time outdoors, especially with our rescue springer spaniel, Goose, and most recently, Tequila, in training as a gundog, a cute bouncy cocker spaniel.
My love for horses remains central to my work, but I’ve recently been inspired by the world of game and country pursuits—including deer, pheasant, woodcock, snipe, gundogs, and traditional sporting scenes. My art strives to convey a sense of intimacy and personality, always drawn freehand and often at a large scale to preserve the raw, emotive power of each subject.
Artistic Approach
I’m passionate about working traditionally—no tracing, no projections, and no digital shortcuts. Each piece is spontaneous, detailed, and entirely unique.
My current collections include an Equine & Florals series, and a new body of work inspired by my experiences in the British and Scottish countryside, especially within the shooting fraternity—from clay days to game shoots.
To Date...
I’ve proudly contributed to equine charities such as World Horse Welfare and Redwings Horse Sanctuary, partnered with UK equestrian distributors, and licensed my work to Moonpig and Thortful.

How I came to this point:
I was born in Australia, where my deep love for animals and the outdoors began.
Growing up on a farm at the base of the Kosciuszko National Park, I was surrounded by the raw, untamed beauty of nature—wild brumbies, kangaroos, boars, wombats, kookaburras, and lyrebirds formed the backdrop of my childhood.
From an early age, I was always drawing. That passion led me to earn a BA in Fine Art in Melbourne, before stepping into the world of editorial design as an Art Director for Condé Nast in both Sydney and later London—working on iconic titles such as The World of Interiors and Vogue Promotions.
Even after two children, a busy creative career, and a move to the UK countryside, I never stopped drawing—or riding horses. Now with my two spaniels by my side (Goose & Tequila), I’ve returned fully to my first love: fine art.
Today, I create large-scale, semi-realistic works that reflect not just what I see—but what I feel. My collections now explore equine beauty, gundogs, deer, game birds, and the traditions of the British countryside. Each piece is made entirely by hand, bringing an authentic, emotional connection to every line I draw.
